“We quickly realized that in our efforts to help and empower women and children, we were the ones becoming empowered.”
Our journey started with a witches’ dinner.
2nd Annual Witches’ Dinner - Women’s Empowerment Annual Charity Event
It was October 2013.
“Glenda. Do you think anyone would come if we put together a witches’ dinner this October? We could celebrate being women - our failures and accomplishments, and the power we have as friends and sisters. Maybe we could collect money for a women’s charity? Is that dumb?”
“Oh absolutely, we should do this - and no, it’s not dumb. No idea is ever dumb.”
So in the beginning, there was an idea and a “yes.” You always need a “yes” girl on your side. It’s how we get things done.
We continued the event annually, supporting each another and local women’s charities along the way.
Over time, we added more events and became more inclusive in our mission to help others. We quickly realized that in our efforts to help and empower women and children, we were the ones becoming empowered.

And in May 2020, we became incorporated.
Compass Empowerment Society is a nonprofit public benefit corporation and is not organized for the private gain of any person. It is organized under the Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law for public purposes. The specific purpose of this corporation is to help and empower women and children.
So here we are (most of us, anyway). A group of women, children, and friends, dedicated to giving back when we can. We now organize several activities a year that directly benefit our local community. Please join us for our next event.
